Your denim is an investment, not just a garment. At Black White Jeans, we engineer our jeans to age beautifully with you. However, proper care is essential to maintain the integrity of the fabric, the depth of the dye, and the perfect fit. Follow our expert guide to extend the life of your armor.

The Ritual: Premium Denim Care & Maintenance

Machine Wash Instructions

To preserve the unique finish and colour of your jeans, we recommend washing them only when absolutely necessary. When it is time for a refresh, follow these steps:

  • Turn Inside Out: Always turn your denim inside out before washing. This protects the outer fibers and prevents premature fading.

  • Colour Separation: Wash with similar dark colours only. Premium indigo dyes can bleed into lighter items during the cycle.

  • Cold Cycle: Use a cold water setting (30°C max) on a gentle cycle. Heat is the enemy of denim elasticity and fit.

  • Detergent Choice: Use a mild liquid detergent (like Persil or delicate care formulas). Never use bleach, spot cleaners, or fabric softeners, as these break down the fabric's structure.

  • The Wash: Don't overload the machine. Add your jeans to the water/soap mixture and run the full gentle cycle.

  • Drying: To dry, roll the jeans in a towel to absorb excess moisture, then reshape and lay flat or hang to air dry in the shade. Avoid the dryer if possible; if you must use it, select the lowest heat setting for a minimal time.

Dry Cleaning

If you want to maintain the 'raw' look and rigid feel of your jeans exactly as they are, dry cleaning is the most minimally invasive option. While it involves chemical processes, it prevents the shrinkage and fading associated with water washing. Choose this method for your most prized pairs.
